Grinders Club rides are open to everyone. Membership
(signing up for e-mails re coming rides) of Grinders Cycling Club is
encouraged and is free - however there is a
charge for each ride. Details of the rides and cost can be
found on
Our Rides page and you can join up via the form below.
For 2014 the Grinders rides will be merged into my
'Beat the Boring' ride program as exploring new food and coffee
establishments is never boring!
What will the rides be like?
Each ride will include a visit to two cafes/restaurants and
participants purchase their own coffees and food - that way you
can make your own decisions about how much you want to spend and
what you try.
On offer will be
rides that include:
- breakfast
followed by a late morning tea;
- early
morning tea followed by lunch;
- lunch
followed by a late afternoon tea;
- and an
early afternoon tea followed by dinner.
Rides will be 30
to 40kms (+) distance and this plus the two stops should be covered in
around 4 hours max - so these are half day activities. These
are fun & recreational rides but the pace will be quick and
suitable for those that like their coffee hot & strong, and
their riding hard (well on the harder side of intermediate
anyway) with minimal or no stops - except for coffee & food! They
aren't training rides, you don't need a particular type of bike
and lycra certainly isn't essential but the intention is to move
along!
The payback - increased effort on the bike
buys the time to relax and socialise over great coffee and food!
As the places we
will visit, in most cases, will be small and funky so the group
size will be limited on any ride to 8 people plus guide(s) - this
makes sure we can get a seat.
I'm also aiming
for the cafes to provide a little information about what they
do, what they serve and perhaps the occasional demonstration or
information session.
Membership:
To keep the club
rides separate from the Bushranger Bikes rides, Council rides and our magical short breaks and other adventure
tours, Grinders Cycling Club will run it's own membership
newsletter database - sign on below.
Rides will be
advertised to the members via newsletters and it will be a
case of booking in for each ride - first in gets the spot.
Once we have
explored a variety of venues, club members will be invited to
rate their favourites and design some rides for the club that
capture these.
For more
information on rides and bookings check out the
Rides page.
