My Backcountry tours
are designed to provide an action-packed and fun cycling holiday
which caters for the novice to the experienced rider.
I
organise a
range of fully supported tour packages to magic locations such as the
Tweed, Gold and Sunshine Coasts - Southeast Queensland, Victorian High Country in
South Eastern Australia and the best cycling location in the world – New
Zealand. Our specialty is back country and off-road cycling,
including whale, rail and wine trails,
that take in awesome scenery and locations, regional history and a
chance to meet the locals and sample great wine and food.
My tours are
something special - small group size (6 to 8 riders), backcountry
exploration,
fantastic accommodation and food, fully organised, cater for all levels of
cycling ability and offer all the benefits that come from my
detailed knowledge of urban and remote Australia and New Zealand – something you
can’t get from a guidebook.

This exclusive Bushranger Bikes 7 days/6 nights tour itinerary has been designed to take
full advantage of arguably some of the best coastal cycling,
scenery and beaches in Australia with iconic locations such
as Fingal, the Gold Coast, Mooloolabah, and Noosa Heads.
Predominantly the riding will be on fantastic coastal
bikeways with some short road sections and in this regions
perfect cycling seasons - Autumn/Winter/Spring - expect
magic cycling looking out over the coast with the added
attraction of some whale spotting. The ride over the
Brisbane River via the Gateway Bridge will be one of the many highlights.
The gradient is mainly flat, the ride distances each day aren’t massive but from experience I
know that groups will want plenty of time to stop and take
in the awesome coastal scenery, snap those special photos and enjoy the cafes and
food along the way, so each day will be a full day.
There are
also fantastic
'off the bike' adventures like Noosa Heads National Park,
the Glasshouse Mountains, Montville, Noosa shops & cafes, and Brisbane's CBD,
Southbank and gardens so this will be one very memorable
experience - make sure you are on board!

inclusive tours to
this fantastic region of Australia
and enjoy the delights of the North
Eastern Victoria 'High Country',
including fantastic historic
Beechworth, beautiful Bright,
gourmet Milawa and epicurean Rutherglen.
This region is
famous for its Bushranger history, but is also a land of vineyards,
tobacco, wine and hops and an abundance of
local produce is waiting to be
sampled.
In
Victoria you will experience the
unique Australian High Country with it's eucalypts and rugged
granite outcrops, beautiful rural open spaces, fantastic historical
towns, award winning wines and the colours of the seasons - particularly beautiful in autumn
and spring when we visit
- all shaped by a history of gold mining and the escapades of the
Kelly Gang.
Depending on the tour option, our 2013 Victorian tours also include
rides on either the High
Country Rail
Trail (Lake Hume), the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail or dropping into Melbourne to experience a totally contrasting
cycling encounter following the Yarra River Trail which highlights a different history and the vibrancy of cosmopolitan

This trip is great with amazing locations, scenery, walking and
cycling all built around Australia’s biggest, busiest and most
vibrant city – Sydney!
Tour Details:
Join Bushranger Bikes for some adventure magic - walking
the North Shore of Sydney Harbour and then riding the bike south
from Botany Bay to Wollongong.
This tour is all about the ocean – Sydney Harbour, secluded
bays, coastal headlands, inlets and quiet waterways, big boats,
beautiful sandy beaches, remote Royal National Park,
breathtaking scenery from the bluffs above Stanwell Park, the
awesome Sea Cliff Bridge, quiet seaside hamlets, Wollongong and
the Illawarra Escarpment.
You can expect crisp clear skies, clean fresh air, unbelievable
seascapes, views and scenery unmatched anywhere else in
Australia, all to be enjoyed by foot and from your bike.
The tour is a
Grade 2 – 2+
(easy to intermediate),

It runs over four easily paced days commencing in Sydney
(Manly). It finishes with a transfer back from Wollongong and

- I offer a wide range
of off-road cycling tour options in
the beautiful South East Queensland region
where Bushranger Bikes is based and
hold the appropriate permits and
insurance to run activities in all the
main forest parks. The
emphasis of these trips is a fantastic mix of hinterland and coast -
something unique to Queensland.
My
'Short Break' tours
include half day, one day and overnight
options in locations such as Mt
Glorious, Samford Valley, the
Brisbane River and City, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, the Lockyer
Valley and Bicentennial Trail, the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland, and local forest parks.
The riding includes the fantastic
Brisbane bikeway network, local fire trails, rail trails, back country pony trails, and purpose built mountain
bike single track.

* Bushies Burnett Bash - Winter - Spring
Carnarvon Gorge has been on my 'to do' list for over
twenty years and I finally made it.
Wow - it was fantastic! The landscape, scenery,
colours, Aboriginal art and walks were all absolutely
awesome – it was breathtaking.
Travelling through the Burnett Region with ‘big country’
vistas and visiting the rural towns was fun and I was
also given great weather which just helped to top of an
amazing trip.
So as always - this got me thinking of how I could share
this with others and organise a fun trip away. I know a
number of our regular riders have caravans etc. so
what’s developed? A Bushranger Bikes ‘Short Break’ with
a difference – an
Outback Road trip - a
Tag Along Tour!
Winter
through to Spring is the ideal time for outback
touring so bring it on!
Bushies Burnett Bash
– Winter/Spring - a eight day/seven
night outback adventure road trip of Central
Queensland’s South Burnett and Burnett Regions with
caravans, camper trailers, motor homes or your car and
tent. We will visit the Bunya Tourist Drive, Cania
Gorge, Carnarvon Gorge and
Bjelke-Petersen
Dam at Moffatdale.
The timing is
perfect for some road tripping and bushwalking as the
weather is usually great, temperatures are pleasant and
it’s wild flower season – brilliant - hitch em up!
